Gary Lineker has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of PSG against Barcelona, that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would offer Liverpool exactly what they need.
Liverpool have been searching for a potent striker all season, but have ended up having to share their goals around the team.
Liverpool are expected to invest in a new striker in the summer transfer, and Lineker suggested to Steven Gerrard that Borussia Dortmund’s Aubameyang would be ideal.
And Gerrard agreed that Aubameyang would fit in well at Anfield, if he was to move to Liverpool – although he warned that interest will be high in the Gabon international.
“Yeah, but if he’s in this type of form, he’ll alert a lot of clubs – not just Liverpool,” Gerrard said.
“He attacks the frame all the time and he gets tap ins because of his movement.”
Aubameyang continued to increase his reputation by scoring a hat-trick for Dortmund in the Champions League last night against Benfica.
Liverpool would likely have to qualify for the Champions League if they are to stand any chance of signing Aubameyang.
Liverpool are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table, but Arsenal and Manchester United are both breathing down their neck.
