Danny Ward is leaving Liverpool on loan for 2016-17. Maybe he’ll be allowed to complete the entirety of his stay rather than being recalled like last season.
Liverpool and Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward is heading out of the club on loan again. This season he’ll be playing his club football for Huddersfield Town, the club confirmed.
Ward left last season on loan to Aberdeen before being called back by Jurgen Klopp in January to challenge Simon Mignolet and further banish Adam Bogdan further from the first team.
Speaking of Bogdan, does this mean that he’s going to have to stick around as third choice with Ward and Ryan Fulton leaving on loan as well, to Chesterfield?
Here’s what Ward’s new manager David Wagner has to say about him:
“Danny is a goalkeeper that Liverpool FC rates very highly, which is why he has signed a new long-term contract at the Club. He did very well out on loan last season and I believe we can help him take the next step in his career this season, so he will return to Liverpool a better goalkeeper.
“He is good with the ball at his feet, which is important in our style, but most importantly he is excellent at keeping the ball out of his net!
“Danny has had a very busy season that was extended by the part he played for Wales in Euro 2016, so he will be given some time off before he joins the squad when we depart for Austria towards the end of the month.”
Ward will play in the Championship with Huddersfield as the club looks to gain promotion to the Premier League. The 23 year old has just returned from the European Championships with Wales, where he started one match.
