Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has been ruled out of Germany’s games this week as he nurses a minor ankle injury.
Can was called up to Joachim Low’s squad for upcoming games against Finland and Norway but will not be involved for his country in what will be a boost to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who will be happy the 22-year-old will instead focus on getting himself fully fit over the international break.
Can missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham in the Premier League after suffering the ankle setback in the EFL Cup win over Burton Albion and the German FA has confirmed he will not feature in either game this week.
Meanwhile, summer signing Loris Karius has returned to early training after he stepped up his recovery from a broken hand. The Germany Under-21 international underwent an operation earlier in the summer and is not expected to be fit until October at the earliest but he has been back in initial action at Melwood.
