Ferdinand names three things he loves about Liverpool FC players after 3-0 win

Rio Ferdinand says Jurgen Klopp was able to call upon his “quick, durable and intelligent players” on Wednesday night after Liverpool FC were 3-0 winners against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Anfield.

The Reds welcomed the Premier League leaders to Anfield looking to secure a commanding first-leg lead ahead of the return trip to Manchester City in the Champions League next week.

Liverpool FC broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Mohamed Salah finished from close range following excellent work from Roberto Firmino to catch out Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubled the home side’s lead with a brilliant long-range strike in the 20th minute to score in successive games against the Eastlands outfit.

Sadio Mane made it 3-0 before the break to put Liverpool FC in command of the last-eight tie before the home side dug deep to keep out Manchester City throughout the second half at Anfield.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was full of praise for the Liverpool FC players for their incredible performance in a 3-0 rout of the Premier League leaders on Wednesday night.

“I think you have to give Liverpool the utmost credit tonight.

“They went out there and produced a perfect game-plan. They went out there and executed it perfectly.

“Klopp need to take huge credit for the way he took his team out there on the front foot. But you have to have the players to execute that game plan.

“You need quick, durable and intelligent players and Liverpool have got them in abundance.”

The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window.
