Gerrard reveals Real loss will be the ‘toughest’ of Klopp’s career

Sadly for the Anfield outfit’s coach, his side lost a dramatic game 3-1 to extend his losing run in finals to six in a row.

Liverpool started brightly, but were dealt a hammer blow after 30 minutes when their talisman Mohamed Salah was forced off with a suspected dislocated shoulder.

Madrid’s goals would come from two horrific howlers which came either side of Gareth Bale scoring one of the greatest ever Champions League goals with a gravity defying bicycle kick.

Speaking after the game Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard revealed that the nature of tonight’s defeat will mean it will hurt Klopp more than any other previous losses.

“Out of the six [final defeats] this will be Jurgen Klopp’s toughest – just the way it’s happened. He’s done everything right, the manager,’’ he told BT Sport.

“He’s prepared his team well throughout the campaign and he set them up well tonight. Tactically they were very good, they looked dangerous, they were full of energy and he loses his best player who has been phenomenal all season.

“That goes against them and for the keeper to make the two mistakes that he did – everything went against Liverpool that could.”
