Igor Biscan pleased to see defender become important player

Former Reds man Igor Biscan has been delighted by the rise of Dejan Lovren this season after the defender’s early struggles at the club.

Lovren found it difficult to settle down and find some form early on his Anfield career, following his move from Southampton.

Things finally look to be falling into place for him though, with the Croatian now posing as one of Jurgen Klopp’s two first choice centre-backs.

Biscan has played alongside Lovren in the past and is happy to see his former teammate playing well after a tough start to life on Merseyside.

Speaking in the second episode of LFCTV series ‘Added Time’, as cited by Liverpoolfc.com, he said: “I’m really happy to see him playing well and being a very important player for the club.”

“I know him really well, we played together when he was at Dinamo early in his career.”

“He’s been through some difficult moments like most players do, but he came out of it a better player and now he’s an important player for the manager, and of course I wish him all the best for the future.”

We have seen Lovren come on along way since his first few months at the club, where he looked a nervy and uncertain man and a completely different player to the one we saw at Southampton.

Since then, he has once again started to look like the assertive and composed defender that we thought we were buying in the first place.

He has shown signs of building a strong partnership with summer signing Joel Matip at the heart of Liverpool’s back four and is now a key figure in Klopp’s side.

Like Igor, we are happy to see him playing well.
