Klopp Delivers Mane Update

Senegal international Mane sustained the problem while representing his country earlier this month and he is expected to be on the sidelines until the middle of November. However, his national team coach Aliou Cisse has included the 25-year-old in his squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and he recently claimed that the winger would be fit in time.

Klopp has moved to refute those hopes, though, by insisting the former Southampton man is still in the recovery phase of his treatment and there is no new information to report regarding his progress.

“I don’t know how he can know but I don’t know so that’s how it is. Sadio is still in rehab, still indoors, so that is the situation at the moment,” Klopp said. “If he is fit earlier I would be really happy but nobody knows at this moment so nothing else to say. They have very important games, I think they need one point, so let’s hope they qualify.”

Liverpool will take on Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and they are likely to welcome back captain Jordan Henderson for the match after he was rested for the midweek Champions League triumph over Maribor.

Henderson’s return could see James Milner drop back down to the bench, while Simon Mignolet and Joe Gomez are also likely to be recalled to Klopp’s starting XI. Provisional squad: Mignolet, Gomez, Lovren, Matip, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Coutinho, Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Robertson, Milner, Grujic, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sturridge, Solanke.
