Premier League giants Liverpool will block the sale of striker Danny Sturridge this summer, according to multiple reports in the English press.
Tumultuous year
The 27-year-old endured a difficult campaign with the Anfield outfit in 2016/17, as repeated injury concerns led many to question whether the English international’s reasons for missing so much game-time were more a case of mental issues, as opposed to physical.
However, during the rare periods where Sturridge was able to return to full fitness and contribute, the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker looked as sharp as ever, slotting seamlessly into the Reds’ talented frontline alongside the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Staying put
As a result, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and co. have reportedly taken ‘D Studge’ off the market, with the impressive form of the technically-gifted attacker when fit, coupled with the potential cost of signing another striker in Sturridge’s place proving crucial in the decision.
The likes of West Ham United and Ligue 1 giants PSG have been linked with potential moves for the Merseyside star, though, if today’s reports are to be believed, both will have to look elsewhere for striking reinforcements this summer, as Danny Sturridge looks set to remain an important member of Liverpool’s squad moving forward.
