“I’ve always liked Emre Can and now everyone is starting to see what all the fuss is about. Can seems to have become more disciplined in that holding role alongside Jordan Henderson,” Aldridge was quoted as saying by the Daily Post.

Can was praised for his ball destitution and improving his ball retention as well as not reducing how often he is dispossessed during games.

“He’s not running with the ball as much so he’s not getting caught out as much. He’s distribution has really improved,” he added.

The Germany international of Turkish origin has been a key player under Klopp this season and has improved under his stewardship.

Under former manager Brendan Rodgers, Can had an average of 63 touches on the ball, 1.5 interceptions per game and 2.7 tackles per game. However under Klopp’s stewardship has has an average of 84 touches on the ball, 3.2 tackles per game and 2 interceptions per game.

Can is expected to start for Liverpool against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League Last 16 second-leg tie on Thursday.
