Owners paint clear picture over Brendan

Reported that Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, will not sack the club’s manager Brendan Rodgers at the end of this season.

Rodgers is under pressure following his team’s defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in the FA Cup, but FSG will not pull the trigger even if the Reds fail to secure a place in the Champions League for next season.

The paper claims that FSG will review things at the end of the season with the emphasis on continuity, which suggests that Rodgers will be given the chance to be the club’s long term manager.

Rodgers has dealt with a number of challenges this season, which he didn’t experience in the last campaign and there is a need for him to refine his squad, trimming the fat for next year.

Liverpool excelled last season when they didn’t have European football adding to their fixture list, as they very nearly won the Premier League, but it seems likely the club will have at least the Europa League to compete in over 2015/2016.

The Echo claims that the main thing, which has worked in Rodgers’ favour is that he’s operated strictly inside the guidelines that FSG have laid down for him since he arrived at the club.
