Steven Gerrard calls on Raheem Sterling to ‘BE A MAN’

Gerrard didn’t hold back on the England international, saying he was “not happy” with Sterling’s behaviour after the player cited illness for missing the beginning on Liverpool’s pre-season and is also reportedly refusing to join the squad on its tour of Australia and the Far East.

“I’m not happy with all that carry-on and I don’t think there’s any need for it. They all need to be men about the situation,” Gerrard told Sky Sports.

“Raheem needs to go in and speak to the owners and to Brendan himself, tell them what he wants and go about it that way. You don’t have to throw illnesses in and refuse to go on tour.

“There are millions and millions of Liverpool fans around the world who are itching to see Raheem Sterling in a Liverpool kit. So I don’t think it’s fair on them if he is behaving like that.”

According to The Mirror, Manchester City are set to put a £45m deal on the table to the Reds for the 20-year-old.

It still falls short of Liverpool’s £50m valuation of Sterling, but it will be interesting to see if patience from the club was completely worn through.

Sterling is believed to have knocked back a £100k-a-week deal from Liverpool and is keen to force his way out of Anfield despite still having two years left to run on his deal.
