What’s impressed me about Liverpool FC since Sevilla collapse

Steven Gerrard admits he has been impressed with Liverpool FC’s response to their Champions League collapse at Sevilla.

The Reds stormed into a 3-0 half-time lead in Spain before some poor defending led to Sevilla recovering a point in a 3-3 draw to make Liverpool FC wait an extra game to secure a last-16 spot.

Liverpool FC are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games since their penultimate group-stage fixture with a 1-1 draw with defending Premier League champions Chelsea at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were 3-0 winners at Stoke City thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah before Liverpool FC secured an emphatic 5-1 victory at promoted side Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Merseyside outfit have managed to hoist themselves into the Premier League’s top four and a point ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal in the table.

Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard insists he has been impressed with Klopp’s men since their disappointing night in Sevilla.

“They’re in a good place at the moment, especially after the collapse at half-time in Seville,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“I think they’ve responded really well. They’re scoring heavily and looking really good going forward. It’s just important that they carry on trying to defend really well.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term after he finished a point above Arsenal in the top-four race.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games to bolster their top-four challenge.

The 18-time English champions are looking to win the Champions League for the first time since 2005.
