‘I’m calling my baby Dejan!’

This is just absolutely brilliant!

Following the comeback last night, a Liverpool fan called up BBC 5Live, explaining that he couldn’t be at Anfield because his wife was in labour.

In fact, he was at the hospital with her, and in tears of elation, the supporter described it as the best day of his life and promised that he was calling his newborn Dejan!

Lovren nodded the winner at the far post deep into injury time, to earn Liverpool the most beautiful moment in quite some time.

“I’ve been to Istanbul, I’ve been Rome. I go everywhere. I missed tonight for this reason, by my God: That was Liverpool!” he told Mark Lawrenson on the phone-in.

We can assure this unnamed supporter that it meant as much to all of us as it did to him, although nobody in our office has gone as far the baby-naming commitment, in fairness!

Liverpool 4-3 Borussia Dortmund will undoubtedly go down in Anfield folklore, but it’ll be tarnished unless we follow it up with actual Europa League victory.

We’ve drawn Villarreal, and will have to face one of Sevilla or Shakhtar Donetsk in the final if we navigate our way past the Spaniards.
