Jurgen Klopp: My approach to the winter market…

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has detailed his transfer policy.

There have been calls for Liverpool manager Klopp to secure singings in the transfer window in order to help his side’s push for the title.

But Klopp doesn’t believe new recruits would necessarily help the squad.

“If you told us the right players right now were available for us then we would do it, of course,” he told Sky Sports on Facebook Live.

“I’m 100 per cent convinced that the things you do in the winter you would only do in the summer too.

“Everything else only solves the problem for a second and a few days later you have another problem. We cannot just get any player.

“This squad is too strong. We need players that make us better. Of course somehow in the season you have harder moments.

“We have not been lucky with injuries, with important players being out at the wrong moment. That didn’t help.

“But we have to continue and I’m sure if we had more players at the beginning of the season we wouldn’t have had this success, because it’s all about the group and this group is really good together.

“Of course there are different ways to go, to plan the season. We have no European football this season so we could ignore that. For sure a lot of things will happen in the summer, of course, to strengthen our squad.

“But at this moment if there is the right player and we can get him we will do it. If not, it does not make sense.”
