According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool have joined the race for highly-rated Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
It’s been well-documented this season that the Reds have needed extra options in defence with their balance looking very off at times.
Indeed, whilst we’ve scored more goals than anyone else in the league we’ve also conceded more than many further down the division and that is what has ruined our title charge.
The summer, then, will surely see defenders come in and it looks like Gibson could be one.
The likes of Manchester City and Spurs are also thought to be keen though and so we’ll likely have to be prepared for a bidding war over a player that has come on leaps and bounds this season.
He’s strong in the challenge and reads the game very well so if he can settle in quickly here and strike up a good partnership with the likes of Joel Matip things could work nicely.
