Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has stoked the fires of the rivalrys

Gerrard has Manchester United finishing in third place behind Liverpool, with defending champions Chelsea back in fourth.

Gerrard said that manager Klopp needs to teach his side two things though, if they want to be a force in the Premier League.

“Liverpool look really dangerous on the counter. If they can learn how to break teams down at home and defend a bit better, I think they are a force,” he said in the build-up to the Community Shield as quoted by the Mirror.

However, he does think that Klopp needs to strengthen his side before the end of the summer transfer window, especially in light of the injury to Adam Lallana.

“Adam Lallana’s injury is a huge blow because he was a player in great form and confidence,” said Gerrard.

“But Salah is coming in, Mane back fit and hopefully Coutinho will stay.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Jurgen has got a couple of cards up his sleeve. He might bring a couple of big signings in.”

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season, guaranteeing themselves Champions League football and keeping Arsenal out of the top four for the first time under manager Arsene Wenger.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to bring the Premier League title to Anfield for the first time but would probably settle for second place in what looks like being a very competitive season.

Manchester City are the bookies favourite for the title after bringing in six new players including left-back Benjamin Mendy in a deal worth close to £50million.
