Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman has said that he thinks the current side are stronger than most of their rivals.
The ex-Real Madrid man has indicated that only current Premier League leaders Manchester City look in better shape than Jurgen Klopp’s men.
“If you look at the contenders in this early part of the season I’d consider Liverpool stronger than Tottenham, stronger than Chelsea and stronger than Manchester United.” he told BT Sport.
And his fellow pundit, and former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves agreed with his assessment on the strength of the top sides.
“They are the second best team I’ve seen so far this season, Man City is by far the best team but I think Liverpool are second.” he said.
“They press the ball and work incredibly hard so even in games that they’re not at their best footballing-wise the energy and pressing like they showed at the Emirates to help them to win games.” he added.
Manchester United started the season well, but they have lost three games in the space of a week and will be visiting Anfield on Monday 17th October.
