Sadio Mane: I’ll switch from right to accommodate Mohamed Salah

Sadio Mane has welcomed the arrival of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool and said he is willing to switch positions to accommodate the winger.

Salah moved to Anfield in June for a club-record £34.3 million and has hit the ground running, scoring four goals in preseason so far from right wing.

Mane, who spent his impressive debut season at Liverpool on the right flank after arriving from Southampton, has returned from knee surgery and made two appearances this summer, operating as a left forward.

“Everybody has seen how he’s quicker than everyone on the pitch,” Mane told the club’s official website. “He’s a nice lad and a great player.

“I am able to play every forward position. I don’t have a problem with that. I have played left wing, right wing and striker — it’s no problem for me.”

After making his comeback against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, Mane scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

“I’m very happy to be back. It was not easy to be off the pitch for three months,” the 25-year-old added. “I want to always help my teammates on the pitch and help my club to get better.

“I want to score more goals for my team and to assist as well. Why not win trophies with the team? I’m very confident and looking forward to it.

“There are still some things to work on. I’m not 100 percent fit, but it’s preseason so I’m okay with that. It will come.”
