Suarez pens new Barcelona contract

The Uruguay international has agreed terms on a deal extension that will run until the Summer of 2021  when he will be thirty-four years of age.

Those hoping that the former Kop favourite will be making an emotional return to Anfield at some stage in the future may well be disappointed given that there is a £167.5million release clause in the deal.

Suarez, who is twenty-nine years old, has been in superb form for the Catalan giants since joining them from the Reds in the Summer of 2014.

He can feel aggrieved not to have made the top three in the Ballon D’or award, which was given to Real Madrid megastar Cristiano Ronaldo after he was part of Champions League and Euro 2016 winning teams this year.

Suarez has netted ten goals in thirteen games so far this season in La Liga and has a total of ninety-seven goals in just one hundred and sixteen appearances for Barcelona.

He has scored sixty-six goals in just seventy-six La Liga games so far and is rated as the best striker in football today.
