Liverpool are satisfied with their start to the season but will continue to strive for constant improvement, Alexis Mac Allister stressed.
The Reds now enter the October international break with 17 points on the board in the Premier League after eight rounds of fixtures, having also achieved three victories in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.
They return to action on October 21 when Everton head to Anfield for the Merseyside derby, with Mac Allister and his teammates determined to return to winning ways following the 2-2 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.
“We are Liverpool and we know that we have to be up there,” the No.10 told Liverpoolfc.com. “I think the beginning was good but at the same time we know that we can improve and we can grow a little bit more. That’s what we will try to do.
“Now we’ve got an international break and then we will be back. We will keep working and try to win football games. That’s what we want.”
Mac Allister returned to his former club on Sunday afternoon as Liverpool were held to a point at Amex Stadium.
Mohamed Salah scored twice to establish a 2-1 lead for Jürgen Klopp’s men following an opener from Simon Adingra, before Lewis Dunk equalised from close range in the 78th minute.

Alexis, how do you reflect on that game?
Well, of course, we feel that we dropped two points because we are winning 2-1 and we couldn’t defend that set-piece. But, in the end, they are a very good team, we know how strong they are. But I think the team reacted really well and played a very good game.
You know this Brighton team better than most people. What is it about them that makes it so difficult to play against them at times?
They are good. The coach is good, the players are amazing, good people in the dressing room. That’s very important. You can see how much the club developed in the last couple of years, so I’m really happy that they are doing well. Of course it was a tough game for both but, in the end, it is a point that in the future will be good for us.
The two goals conceded, is there frustration about them?
I think the first goal I should have done better, I should have been aware about where the players were. But it’s football – we make mistakes. The important thing is how you react and I think the team reacted very well, and that will be important for the future.
How are you finding it playing as a No.6?
I like it, I like it. I’ve said it many times, for me it’s easy to say, ‘No, it’s not my position and I do the best I can.’ But it’s not like that. Jürgen is playing me there, he is giving me his support and I try to do the best I can. I think I improved a lot in the last couple of years defensively and I think it’s a job that I can do very well. I feel good and I feel that my teammates and the coaching staff are supporting me. That’s important.
