Kostas Tsimikas signs new long-term contract with Liverpool FC

Kostas Tsimikas has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool FC.

The left-back penned fresh terms at the AXA Training Centre on Monday, extending his stay with the club he joined from Olympiacos in August 2020.

Tsimikas told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel very glad to be here to extend my contract. I feel like all the sacrifices I did and other things, the work I put in, [that] everything pays off.

“But this keeps me fully motivated for the rest. As I’ve said in many, many interviews, this team has many, many things to achieve all together and I wanted to be from the first minute a part of it.”

Since signing for Liverpool, Tsimikas has made 63 appearances and provided 12 assists.

The Greece international memorably slotted home the decisive penalty to seal the Reds’ Emirates FA Cup final victory against Chelsea in 2022 having played in five of his side’s six ties in the tournament.

Affectionately known by supporters as the ‘Greek Scouser’, Tsimikas also helped Jürgen Klopp’s team win the Carabao Cup in 2021-22 and he has outlined his aims over the duration of his new deal.

The 27-year-old said: “More success, more work and more trophies. For me it is the most important thing, to win trophies, to be committed in every situation, to be part of all of this.

“I think this team has very big potential to win more trophies and we will go for it. Everybody, I think, is 100 per cent there [and] focused for the next games and everybody is ready to achieve big things in the future.”
