Liverpool must sort out their defence to win the Premier League

The Reds have shipped five goals so far this season, three of them coming away to Watford on the opening weekend of the season.

However, the attacking firepower of the Jurgen Klopp’s men has seen Liverpool enjoy an unbeaten start to their campaign.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Premier League Player of the Month Sadio Mane have all been in inspired form this term, combining well as Liverpool have torn defences apart.

But problems lie at the other end of the pitch.

“The pace they attack teams with is incredible”
And Shearer believes they will not be able to win the league unless they sort their back line out.

Speaking to betting site Coral, Shearer said: “They are going to have tighten up at the back if they are going to be title contenders.

“But I don’t think they’ll be that far away.”

The Premier League’s record goalscorer was purring over the Reds’ attacking options, heaping praise on how good they have been so far this season.

“I’d still be concerned about them defensively but going forward and scoring goals will never be an issue,” added Shearer.
